Classification - Freshman, Dartmouth College
During the application process, Ma'Khia expressed that her interest in the program stemmed from her belief that it would "grant [her] the opportunity to learn and grow beyond [her] current skillsets", which she believes will prove to be "an enriching and enlightening experience." She also noted that being afforded "exposure to several knowledgable people" while being able to share her own "perspectives and thoughts" would be a huge plus.
When asked what need she is most passionate about addressing during her time as a fellow and beyond, Ma'Khia noted that she'd like to focus on supporting students in more effectively navigating the college admissions process, with specific focus on low-income, high achieving individuals who, more often that not, lack the resources and support systems necessary to take advantage of the opportunities that are available to them. She also expressed interest in empowering neurodivergent youth to thrive as they navigate the highs and lows that accompany their unique challenges and abilities.
Three things that Ma'Khia is most proud of about herself:
1. Passion and determination
2. Humor
3. Sense of style and taste for fashion
