Meet Fall 2025 NeurodivURGENT Fellow: Gabrielle Peters

Classification - Senior, Spelman College


During the application process, Gabrielle expressed that her interest in the program stemmed from its direct alignment with her "passion for educational psychology and her commitment to creating equitable, inclusive learning environments for all students." She noted that she was "especially drawn to the interdisciplinary focus on neurodivergent youth and families, as it reflects the kind of work [she] hopes to do in [her] field - supporting students in ways that honor their unique learning styles, strengths, and creativity."

Gabrielle is hopeful that this fellowship will afford her the opportunity to engage in meaningful service learning, while also acquiring transferrable advocacy skills to support her efforts to promote inclusive curricula that nurture both academic and personal growth. In short, she plans to utilize this program to deepen her understanding of how to make a tangible, compassionate impact on the lives of neurodivergent youth and their families.

About The NeurodivURGENT Fellowship Program:

The NeurodivURGENT Fellowship program is a semester-long experiential learning opportunity for undergraduate students. Ideal participants are those who possess a strong interest in engaging in the interdisciplinary study of neurodivergent equity, particularly relating to youth and families. The program includes six virtual learning sessions, service learning activities, and a capstone project.
