Speaker Profile

Miah Moore

Artist & Community Advocate

About Ms. Moore

Miah Moore is a student parent, artist, International Baccalaureate graduate, and community advocate passionate about addressing complex challenges at the intersection of health, the environment, and social equity. Her lived experience as a student parent provides firsthand insight into the challenges of balancing caregiving, academics, and access to resources within systems that are not always designed with families in mind. She represents the Today’s Students Coalition as a Student Ambassador Fellow, using her story to advance change in federal legislation on behalf of other student parents.

Her work is driven by a belief that meaningful solutions often require unconventional thinking, collaboration, and the willingness to challenge the status quo. After reflecting on a lifelong struggle to understand social cues and expectations that seemed intuitive to others, and after listening to a presentation by Temple Grandin, she began to view those differences through a new lens—not as disadvantages, but as strengths. Grandin's message reinforced Miah's belief that some of society's most pressing challenges require people who can think outside the box and approach problems from perspectives others may overlook.

Miah is particularly interested in environmental justice, disaster preparedness, community health, and improving healthcare access for underserved and disenfranchised populations. She believes that the true measure of a community's strength is how well it protects and empowers those who face the greatest obstacles. Whether addressing environmental hazards, improving public health systems, or preparing for future disasters, she advocates for solutions that recognize the needs of marginalized individuals from the very beginning—not as an afterthought. Outside of school and the workplace, Miah is an artist. She aspires to blend her artistic talents and academic interests to become a public advocate who draws attention to urgent issues, amplifies the unheard, and relentlessly pushes the world toward meaningful change. As both a mother and advocate, Miah is committed to helping build healthier communities where every person has the opportunity to thrive and contribute their unique strengths
