Coach Jeremy Brown

About Coach Brown

Jeremy Daurice Brown, is a native of Kentwood, LA, who attended Kentwood High School from 2001-2005 school terms. He was born January 3, 1987, raised from a single parent home by his mother, Terrie Thomas, and grandparents. Upon graduating, Brown achieved TOPS Louisiana performance of class, BETA honors and received a full athletic scholarship in football at the University of Arkansas at Monticello from 2005 – 2010. Upon receiving his bachelor degree of Science in Education in 2010, Brown secured his first job at Martha Vineyard Elementary school as a paraprofessional for students with special needs returning to Louisiana.

Shortly after, Principal Rochelle Bates offered him a job to teach Special Education and coach at Kentwood High School in 2012. In the fall of 2021, Jeremy received his Master of Arts as an Educational Specialist in Mild to Moderate degree that supported students with exceptional disabilities. Jeremy has elevated the classroom in students’ behavior, class participation, instructional gains, state test scores and graduation top performers rates. Teaching within the school brings him joy and comfort because everyday is a unique experience in promoting guidance to students and learning characteristic traits. The challenges that he has yet to overcome is knowing that he will not be able to save every child but strives his best to provide as much aid as possible in improving a goal before meeting that once failed.

As a seasoned educator, Mr. Brown is proud to have gained the trust and respect from his students’ overtime. Mr. Brown philosophy strengths are learning his student's lifestyle and providing relevance to build a successful relationship with his students to promote exceptional learning.

​

He believes that forming relationships with students can change the learning environment because students can sense you care which helps in presenting content objectives. Nevertheless, Coach Jeremy Brown has managed to contribute towards the high school football and track team achievements securing multiple (3) state championships, (2) state runner-ups, (8) regional championships, (13) district championships, (15+) student-athlete scholarships, and exceptional academic success both on and off the field. Jeremy is the father of (4) children, Jayden, Jayse, Antwun and Jaylah Brown. He has recently become engaged to his fiancée Lariesha Dyson and planning to make everything official by the end of the year. Also, he is preparing to gain certification in administration to become a principal.

​

 

Overall, the 14 years of education has been incredible and the thrill of making a connection towards our students ensuring that knowledge is reachable takes time and guidance in making every opportunity the best outcome of learning. It takes a village to ensure the success of our students in promoting positive learning, commitment, and desire to aim for greater in achieving goals. Mr. Brown gives much credit towards his mentors and teachers for there support along his journey: Ann Trappey, Phyllis Vernon, Mr and Mrs Simeon Pam Bankston, Audre Winters, David Currier and many more. The active engagement is highly encouraged through our community and is linked heavily towards the success of our student learning abilities within the classroom.
