Dr. Donna B. Ramsey

Educator, Diagnostician, and Researcher

About Dr. Ramsey

Dr. Donna B. Ramsey brings over 25 years of experience in the field of special education. She has served in a wide range of roles across K–12 and higher education, including special education teacher at the elementary, middle, high school, and adult education levels; educational diagnostician; and adjunct instructor. Dr. Ramsey currently serves as an IEP Facilitator for Livingston Parish Public Schools.

Dr. Ramsey earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Rehabilitation Services from Southern University, a Master of Arts in Special Education from Louisiana State University, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Southeastern Louisiana University. Her scholarly work centers on the disproportionality of Black students in special education. She is deeply committed to continuing her research in this area, particularly as it relates to the impact of stigmatizing labels such as Emotional Disturbance, Intellectual Disability, and Specific Learning Disability.

Outside of her professional work, Dr. Ramsey enjoys spending quality time with her family. She also finds joy in gardening and restoring antique furniture, taking pride in bringing pieces back to their original beauty.
