2026 Conference Proposals
(Researchers/Professionals)

The NeurodivURGENT Conference is a three-day, highly interactive hybrid event designed to serve as a catalyst for collaboration around issues that directly impact the plights of underserved youth facing neurocognitive challenges. By intentionally curating interdisciplinary panels, workshops, roundtable discussions and keynote presentations that explore different sides of the same issues, this event is positioned to spark innovative partnerships and assist professionals in gaining better understandings of how their respective roles fit into the larger neurodiversity ecosystem.

Overview:

The NeurodivURGENT team is currently seeking researchers, educators, field practitioners who have done equity-centered research and/or field work on behalf of neurodivergent youth in the following disciplines: law/legal profession, education, social work, psychology, neuroscience, public health, policy/public service and medicine

​

Emphasis must be placed on one or more of the following five (5) areas: cognition & learning, rehabilitative justice, behavioral and emotional health, equitable access to screening and treatment and/or caregiver support.

​

Submission Types:

Participants may apply to showcase their work through NeurodivURGENT Convos, panel discussions, workshops, research/field work presentations, and research/field work posters. All entries will be peer-reviewed and selected based on rubric criteria provided in submission instructions.​

NeurodivURGENT Convos

NeurodivURGENT Convos are 15-minute speeches designed to address salient issues relating to one or more of the key focus areas listed above. Speeches should be high-energy, engaging, and relevant to the conference theme: Sustaining Process Through Improved Strategy and Collaboration.

Panel Discussions

Panel discussions held during the NeurodivURGENT conference provide opportunities for attendees to hear various perspectives on important topics relating to the support of neurodivergent youth and families. Panels should include individuals who are highly-skilled in the areas addressed and should aim to address issues from a diverse perspectives that allow for robust and enriching thought-leadership on the topic discussed.​

Workshops

NeurodivURGENT workshops provide opportunities for hands-on engagement that encourages participants to actively work through scenarios that challenge them to design strategies that are transferable into their day-to-day lives as professionals, parents/caregivers, and community stakeholders.

Research/Field Work Posters:

Selected posters will remain on exhibit for the entirety of the conference. Those who have submitted accepted posters will be allotted time to share their work and engage with conference attendees during the two-hour poster session event.

Research/Field Work Presentations:

Selected presenters will be allotted 30 minutes each to share their research and/or field work and an additional 5-10 minutes for Q & A. Final presentations and all other visual aids must be submitted in advance to ensure an efficient, engaging, and pleasant experience for all.​

Proposal

Submissions

General Submission Guidelines: 

  • All submissions must fall in one or more of the following five categories: Cognition and Learning, Rehabilitative Justice, Behavioral and Emotional Health, Equitable Access to Screening and Treatment, or Caregiver Support. (On the application, please select the one that most closely aligns with your submission.)

  • All submissions must be the author's own original work and must not infringe on the copyright/intellectual property rights of any other individual or organization. 

  • All submissions must clearly align with the goal of creating more equitable supports for under-resourced neurodivergent youth and families.

NeurodivURGENT Convo Submissions:

  • NeurodivURGENT Convo outline submissions must include a Title and brief overview of topic covered. All information referenced should include proper citations. 

  • Approximate length of speech must conform to 15-minute limit. It is highly-advisable that speeches are timed in advance as additional time will not be granted during the event. 

  • Upload a 5-minute snippet of your proposed speech to a cloud-based such as Google Drive and share the link.

​Panel Discussion Submissions: 

  • NeurodivURGENT panel discussions should consist of 3-5 panelists, including the moderator. 

  • Each panelist must possess a strong professional and/or academic background in the field in which they wish to discuss.

  • Submissions should include an outline highlighting the key points that will be discussed and estimated times for each portion of the discussion.

Interactive Workshop Submissions: 

  • NeurodivURGENT Interactive Workshops must include highly-engaging approaches to address topics that directly relate to the theme of the conference "Sustaining Progress Through Improved Strategy and Collaboration" and also be geared toward one of the five key focus areas noted in the general guidelines. 

  • Submissions should include an outline highlighting the key points that will be discussed, estimated times for each portion of the discussion, and examples of how participants will remain engaged throughout. 

  • Use of visual aids and manipulatives are highly encouraged. â€‹â€‹

Poster Submissions:

  • Research posters must include the following headings: Title, Authors/Affiliation, Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion/Conclusions, Acknowledgments, and References. 

  • Field work posters must include the following headings: Title, Authors/Affiliation, Abstract, Project Summary, Key Performance Indicators, Discussion/Conclusions, Acknowledgement, and References.

  • All poster submissions must be legible and include text and graphics that clearly demonstrate the objectives and outcomes of the research.

  • Posters will be printed on 4' x 3' posters and should be formatted accordingly.

Presentation Outline Submissions: 

  • Research presentation outlines must include the following headings: Title, Authors/Affiliation, Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion/Conclusions, Acknowledgments, and References. 

  • Field work presentation outlines must include the following headings: Title, Authors/Affiliation, Abstract, Project Summary, Key Performance Indicators, Discussion/Conclusions, Acknowledgement, and References.

  • Estimated time allotment for each portion of the 30 minute presentation should also be included.  

    • Note that Q&A time is separate and does not need to be included in the 30 minute allotment. ​​​​​​​​
