About Mrs. Wyatt
Alexis Wyatt is a wife, mother, Spelman College graduate and Public Health Professional with twelve years of experience specializing working with maternal child health populations. A California native, she began her Public Health career while in graduate school at her alma mater, Touro University-California and interned at a statewide program that supports pregnant and parenting Black women. She has been employed in clinical settings across the state, including a Southern California children's hospital named the only in the region to have specialized maternity and pediatric care under one roof. Additionally, she was employed by a UC Health System Hospital in Northern California, where she case managed prenatal genetic screening test results. In 2020, she embarked on a pivotal opportunity to grow in prenatal genetic screening and initiated her career in government, for the world’s largest screening program, where she served as Unit Chief. In this management role, she led the redesign project which shifted from traditional biochemical screening to the use of cell- free DNA (cfDNA) screening technology. Additionally, with the redesign, she also led the development and testing efforts for an electronic portal which allowed screening orders to be placed by licensed healthcare providers. The portal went on to gain National recognition for the modernization and optimization interaction between government genetic screening and health care providers.
Alexis continues her work in maternal child health and as of 2024, accepted a promotion within the government sector. She now works to promote health and equity, inform and translate data-into-action, integrate community-informed prevention opportunities, and enhance the development of strategies to reduce preventable maternal mortality and morbidity.
