Hometown Hero Honoree

Ms. Mary Ford is a seasoned New Orleans educator of 35 years. She is a graduate of Southern University New Orleans where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in English/Language Arts with an emphasis in Secondary Education. Inspired by a family of educators, Ms. Ford has aspired to be a teacher since the age of six years old. When asked what inspires her most, Mary stated, “The thing that inspires me most is watching children succeed. When the lightbulb goes off and children experience the ‘I’ve got it’ moment, it’s truly the best feeling in the world.”

 

Ms. Ford is the proud mother of three children and four grandchildren with one on the way. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, cooking, and doing arts and crafts.
