About Mrs. Carter-Blanson

Demetria Carter-Blanson has always been passionate about serving others and making a positive impact in her community. Demetria discovered early on that her calling, passion and purpose is to inspire and uplift others. Demetria is the daughter of the late Gussie L Carter, the mother of Derrick “DJ” Parker, the wife of Ernie Blanson and the only sister of Twyla J Carter-Abraham. She is a graduate of Grambling State University with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.

After graduation Demetria joined Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office where she made black history as the 2nd black female to be appointed as a Captain with the department. Demetria currently serves as an Administrator / Program Director for The Harmony Center, Inc. She has the opportunity to implement a pilot program and partner with DCFS to provide housing for children in foster care that faces unusual challenges and trauma. Working with foster kids has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. She believes that every child deserves a safe, nurturing environment where they can thrive, and strive to create that space for the children she work with. Beyond the immediate support, she is passionate about advocating for systemic changes within the foster care system. She believe that every child deserves access to quality education, mental health resources, and a loving family environment. She actively participate in community meetings and collaborate with various organizations to raise awareness.

Demetria is an active member of The Grace House Church under the leadership of Pastor Jeffery Turner and Dr. Alfredia Turner, where she participates in all areas of ministry. Her commitment to her faith and community is evident. She believes that the church's mission extends beyond its walls.
